December 31, 2016

Well, this is it, the last day of 2016.  December has been such a sad month, with so many people passing away.  It was a quiet day here, we went shopping this morning and it was cold, cloudy and rained a bit.  It's supposed to snow, but so far, none has showed up.  I started taking down the Christmas stuff, I usually don't take the tree down until the 1st, but all the ornaments are off, just need to take the tree apart.  Maybe I'll light it up one more time tonight and dismantle it tomorrow. I still need to go through the boxes from the attic and see what's there, I didn't look in them all, it got too cold!

John is working on the old dodge again, he is making the exhaust pipe today.  Andy has a muffler that we are going to run over and get, they don't make one with a small enough opening to fit the size pipe that matches where it comes out.

I read and slept a lot today, I'm so tired!  Still having troubles with my sugar levels, I started taking metformin at night again, but levels are still higher than I would like them to be.  Such a hard disease to have!  Wish they could find a cure.  It's been hard not to eat all the junk that's around this time of the year.  People bring us food and I have broken down and eaten some a couple times.  I did great through Thanksgiving, but Christmas whipped me!

We had tamales and red chili for supper, YUMM!  I ate only the meat filling in mine, no masa to add carbs!  I plugged the tree in one last time for the year, I love the lights and I love trees!

We kept hearing booms all day today, never could figure out what it was.  About the time we went to bed there were some, but didn't hear them at midnight.

December 30, 2016

Helped Jess work on the album she is making for her friend Bobbie.  Jess picked out a smash book I had and I am printing photos for her to put into the book.  We worked on it again today.

Her folks came and picked her up today, she was going to go home tomorrow, but she said her folks wanted to come get her today.

Eric showed up about the time Andy got here so John and Andy went down to the shop to visit with him.  We girls went down later.

John and I went shopping after they left and ate supper.  Kind of quiet around here tonight!

December 29, 2016

Cold and cloudy today!  No sunrise here.

I had an appointment with Doc Haws this am.  He says my eyes are going the right way, but they aren't ready for surgery yet.  (I have a cataract)  They are so slow!  I was the only one in the office, my appointment was at 8:30 and it was quarter to 9 before they took me back!  It was 9:15 before I got out.  The doc was in the waiting room talking to one of the employees, so it wasn't like he wasn't there.  They shouldn't do that!

Jess has been wanting to make an album for her best friend and so I showed her some albums and smash books I have and she picked out one to use.  I printed out some photos for her and she has started putting them in the book.

December 28, 2016

Only 3 more days left in 2016.  Most people are saying they are looking forward to the end of a bad year.  It wasn't bad for us, we were able to purchase the property next door and that was a big good thing for us!  We've spent most of the year since June working next door, it was good for us health wise, we both lost weight and I got stronger from all the work.  We've got an almost finished studio for me, just need to move my stuff into the room.

Jess picked out a book to use for her album for her friend Bobbie.  We started working on it today.  She had some of the pix she wants to use on her phone and I printed them out and she is cutting and gluing them into the book.

Had scrambled eggs for supper and watched a movie, Groundhog Day.

December 27, 2016

Company day.  Trish, Sam, Carleen and Mom came up this morning to see our latest stuff and Casa.  Emilee and Dallas showed up a bit later and we showed them around too.  Emilee hasn't been up here in years, she said the last time she remembered being here was when we took the pictures of her and Westyn by grandpa's Allis Chalmers tractor.

John, Jes and I went to Subway with Mom, Carleen, Sam and Trish.  Had a good visit with them.  Got Jes to take pix of us girls together.  I have been wishing we'd taken a pix of the 4 soon to be 5 generations.  Mom, me, Charles and Nikki.  We need to get one when Noah gets here, not often you have 5 generations!

John Jes and I watched a movie this evening, Honey I shrunk the Kids.  Haven't seen that one in a long time!

December 26, 2016

Charles and girls left about 10 am.  So glad Jes was here after they left, I always feel sad when they go.  We had such a good visit with them.

After they left, we helped John winterize the guest room, then went to the drug with him looking for some pink antifreeze to put in the drains.  The drug didn't have any, Jes and I picked up a couple items, I got the stocking hangers I was wanting earlier, they were on sale, and Jes got some socks.  Then we went to Davis to get the antifreeze, when we came out we could smell good smells from Boogas, so went and ate lunch there.

Charles called to let us know he made it home safely.

Had left overs for supper and watched a Leslie Nielson movie Mr. Magoo. Then it was bedtime.

December 25, 2016

Christmas Day.  Woke up early and got my bath in before 5.  My oxy machine didn't get turned on last night and my numbers were higher.  Need to start checking it myself!

We didn't get much snow last night, less than an inch I'd say.  We went out and took pictures of Nikki's car in the snow, she was wanting to have it get snow on it.

Opened presents with Charles, Christy and Nikki, then Andy's family came over about 1.  We ate at about 2, it was so good!  I didn't make all the high carb things like candied yams this year, we had Turkey, gravy, potatoes with Cauliflower potatoes for me and corn, green beans, rolls.  Pies for dessert.

Andy made everyone in the family a tshirt with a saying from the movie Christmas Vacation.  We had fun speaking the lines on our tshirts.  Had a good dinner, everything turned out good.

Visited, then Charles and family and us went to St. Johns to visit.  Susan brought Jess over to St. Johns. She is going to stay with us for a while.  The guys at Mom's were getting ready to go to Sandy's about the time we got there, Carleen and Mom went over and Trish and Sam stayed at Mom's and we visited with them until Jess got there.  Then we all went over to Sandy's and visited for a bit.

Came home and we went to bed.  Christy and the girls stayed up to watch Rudolph.

December 24, 2016

Wow, it's Christmas Eve day already.  Time has whizzed by so fast, seems like yesterday it was Halloween!  Cleaned up this am, getting ready for guests.  Put the turkey in water to make it thaw faster, it wasn't thawing at all.  I always forget to get it out soon enough.  Decided to have dinner at 2 pm, maybe that way Andy's family will have more time to get here, and the late risers won't be full from eating breakfast!

Charles, Christy and Nikki got here about 2. He emailed me a link to follow along with their trip, glimpse, and it was fun to see where they were.  We had tamales and chili when they got here and again for supper.

It was windy and cold today and it rained, then turned to snow later on.

December 23, 2016

I baked pies this morning.  Made the coconut crust and put pumpkin mouse in it.  Hope it's good!

Mailed Jana's card today, I was feeling bad cause we didn't get one from her yet and today it got here!  I couldn't send her one cause they moved and I didn't have her new address.

Brent and Rachel Wilhelm stopped by today, wow, what a surprise!  They were on their way to Vernon for Christmas.  First time we've met Rachel and her daughter.  I liked them.

Made the chili for xmas eve today.  Did it different, I fried the meat and put it and the chili in the crock pot.  I didn't add any water to it, and it's nice and thick and good!  I put a bit on my supper burger patty, jumm!

Watched a Christmas movie this evening.  I like it, but I don't think John did.  It was kind of a chick flick.

December 22, 2016

Cold, cloudy and rainy day.  Weather says it's going to snow on Saturday.  That's okay as long as it waits until Charles and family get here.

Made bread this morning, one loaf, and the rest into rolls for Christmas dinner.  Boy did it smell good!  Too bad a camera can't capture smell along with the photo!

We visited the library today, we are both voracious readers, John only reads non fiction books and I love mysteries and horror stories.  Dean Koontz and Stephen King are my favorite authors.  I got a Nook a few years ago and would rather read on it than a real book.  I can make the print larger to see easier and I love not having to try and keep a book that doesn't want to be open, open so I can read it!  In spite of that I bought some books from the discard today, a Dean and a Stephen one and another mystery one.

We ate lunch and read and napped this afternoon.  Oh, I made some pumpkin fudge, it's a no sugar low carb recipe.  Tasted a bit and it's not bad.  Maybe it will keep me from eating stuff I shouldn't have!

John is starting on a new sculpture.  He recently started a golfer he wants to make mostly using golf clubs.  He'll have to find more to finish him.  He also started on a steampunk shark!  Haven't seen it yet.

We ventured out to fill the putt with gas and to Safeway to pick up veggies for stirfry.  There was a cute young man ringing a bell for donations in front of the store.  We asked him if he would dance to donations like the policeman we saw on facebook and he did!  He did a good job and we left a donation.

Mom dropped off the Christmas Grinch movie she got us and we watched it tonight.  Still love that movie!  As we were watching the extras, we heard car doors shutting and soon the doorbell rang.  It was the Madrid family out caroling and they sang to us!  Pretty cool.  They left us with some cookies and another song.  That was a pleasant surprise.

December 21, 2016

It's the shortest day of the year!  That means that tomorrow will be a bit longer.  So looking forward to longer days and more light.  I am having a hard time this December with depression.

We got some rain today, it's been pretty cold! They are saying we are going to get more rain and maybe snow on Saturday.  Hope the snow waits until everyone is home!

Went shopping this morning.  Still a few things we need to get for Christmas dinner, but I'm going to wait.  I did a worse bad thing today, I ate one of the candies Derrick brought us!  Blood sugar was 160!  I don't feel good and keep wanting to just jam bad food into my mouth today.

John changed the oil in the GMC today.  Changed the oil in the putt yesterday.

December 20, 2016

Woke up early this morning and figured I'd just get up.

We cleaned this morning, John vacuumed and I cleaned the bathrooms and mopped.  Christmas is swiftly approaching!

Derrick Mann and son came by bringing Christmas goodies to us.  Sure are pretty! I cheated for the first time since deciding I wasn't going to eat sugar anymore and had one tiny bite.  Now I feel sick and have a headache!  The sugar?  I think so.

December 19, 2016

Wow, the days are going by so fast!  So many things left to do!  I need to make a towel hanger for Sandy, bake bread and pies and clean.

We delivered Christmas gifts today.  Took Andy's over and visited with Susan a bit, then to Mom's and visited, then went to Carleen's and saw her new room.  It's awesome!  BJ Greer did it for her and he really does good work!

Came home ate supper, then went to see the living Manger scene, then rode around looking at lights.  That's my favorite part of Christmas, I love the lights!  I've felt stressed and depressed today.  It's almost the shortest day of the year and I can tell!  Need more daylight!

Sunday, December 18, 2016

December 18, 2016

It's cold outside!  John reports that the weather service says more cold coming and maybe snow.  Hope it warms up before Charles and family get here.  Seems like we always have a cold spell when they come up.

I spent the morning doing laundry and cleaning up a bit.  The house has been so neglected since we purchased the house next door!

John found a water leak in the attic tiny little closet with the water heater!  Crap!  He can hardly get into the closet and says he can't get to the leak.  It's just a little one, so we're wondering if we can just deflect the water into the pan that's under the water heater until after Christmas, then fix it.

John got another nose bleed today.  It was dark chocolate colored, not sure what that was.  The bleed wasn't as bad as the other ones, I'm thinking it's because he has been doing too much outside in the dry air.  It's almost impossible to get him to take it easy and let his nose heal.

December 17. 2016

Woke up to the sound of rain!  by 7 it had turned to snow!!  We didn't get much just a skiff in a few places.  It is cold!

Went with John to take his scratchboard to the library, they are having a display of his art in January.

Bryan left us some tangerines on the doorstep while we were out running errands.

It was a quiet day, I worked on the Santa head towel hangers.  I've finished three of the four I want to get done for gifts.  Just need to finish Sandy's.

December 16, 2016

John said he slept much better last night, no more sitting up to sleep!

The wind woke me up, it's banging and clattering again.  I HATE wind!!

We went morning, it rained on us on the way to the store, didn't get much tho.  It was a cold windy day!  The chairs all blew over and scooted out of place.  We just left them until the wind dies down, they'd just blow over again if we set them back up.

This afternoon we went to the library and to ShopCo to find John some t shirts. I found a few items to add to the girls xmas.  Working on my Santa towel holders, got one done and another close.  I want to make 4 to give to Mom and my sisters.  Hope I get them done!

December 15, 2016

I think we both slept better last night.  Yeah!

Today is the day John sees Dr. LeSueur and gets his plugs out.  He will be so happy to part with them!

John cut the water pipes in the vault back to the bathroom wall and we tested with air to find where they are going.  Looks like the problem we were afraid of isn't a concern.  We were afraid that the line to the back of the house was under the front bathroom and connected to the lines there.  The air test says no!

John's visit with Doctor LeSueur went well.  We both really like him.  He took the plugs out and examined him and burned spots in both nostrils and put some mesh stuff on the wounds that he said was developed by the military for battle wounds.  It sticks only to bloody places and keeps them from bleeding.  It dissolves in about a week, so no removing it or pulling packing out, which can cause bleeding.  John said it feels really good to be able to breath through his nose again!  We stopped at WalMart to pick up a few things, then ate at Wendy's.  I had the baconator, no bun.  I think it's better for me than a salad, which has dressing and other stuff I don't eat in it!

December 14, 2016

John said he slept pretty well last night.  Poor guy, he has to sleep sitting up.  Only one more day until he gets the plugs out of his nose!

We've both been nappie today, John because of the benedryl and me I'm not sure, LOL.  Maybe I'm not sleeping well at night.  We didn't do much of anything today.

Doc Wilson's office called, doc wanted to visit with John, the results of the MRI are in.  He said he has a meniscus tear on the outside of his knee.  They decided to let it go for now and see if it heals on its own.  With the nose thing going on right now, need to get that seen to first!

December 13, 2016

John says he feels better this morning, he still had to get up every 2 hours, but said he slept better between wakings.  I didn't sleep well, snoring and pain made it hard to sleep.

I took John for his MRI this afternoon, all went well and it didn't take long.  The hospital is getting to be to familiar!

I baked a sugar free pumpkin pie today.  The crust wasn't bad, used coconut flour, but the filling just wasn't very good.  Needed more spice and a bit more truvia!

Started saving to the new external drive I got, this computer keeps crashing and I'm always afraid I won't get it back!  It'll be good to get it all done.

Today is Dad's birthday.  He would be 91 years old.  Hard to believe it's been 12 years since he died.

December 12, 2016

We didn't have a good night's sleep, John was tired of sleeping in the recliner, so we stacked pillows so his head would be elevated and he slept in the bed.  He kept waking up and getting up cause his mouth was dry and I think it woke me up every time he got up.  I'm tired this morning!

Called the ENT doc for an appointment, John has to wear the plugs until Thursday!  Asked what he could take for the sneezing, and he said Benadryl so got some and it helped, he slept most of the day!
The doc was supposed to call in a renewal for the antibiotic for John and didn't do it, today was the last day.  Doc Sielski said he needed them because with the plugs he was at risk for infection in his nose!

Mom and Carleen came up this afternoon, they brought Mom's gifts for my family.  We'll take Andy's over to them when we take ours.

Sunday, December 11, 2016

December 11. 2016

John spent most of the night in the recliner again.  I think he must be having an allergic reaction to the plug in his nose, he started sneezing yesterday and he hasn't stopped!  Mucus is running out of both nostrils and he is miserable!  He's had a bit of blood showing up from both nostrils.

Laundry day, I spent most of the day washing.  John puttered a bit and asked if I wanted to put the lights on the tetnus tree. I said yes and got him to move it and we were putting on lights when his nose started bleeding again!  Yup, another trip to the er!!  I keep telling him to take it easy and not go out, but he won't listen.  Maybe now he will, the doc told him to take it easy and not do anything!  He said even putting lights on the tree could raise his blood pressure and make it bleed!  He took out the packing he put in yesterday and checked and it was still oozing, so he ended up packing both nostrils!  He is supposed to call the ENT doc in ShowLow tomorrow and get an appointment.

Saturday, December 10, 2016

December 10, 2016

We both woke up early this morning, seems like it's getting harder to sleep all night.

After breakfast John wrapped some of the gifts we got yesterday.  I put more ornaments on the tree, I still have a box of them, I'm running out of room on the tree!

We had a repeat of Thursday this morning, John had to make another trip to the ER.  His nose was REALLY gushing this time.  Different doc, it was Sandy's doctor Selski this time.  He didn't do the cocaine treatment and said he didn't like to cauterize either because the scab could crack and come off and you'd just have a bigger hole to bleed from. Maybe that's what happened!  John spit out a huge clot of blood while we were in the ER, maybe  Not sure how much he lost, I'd bet at least 1/2 cup and maybe a cup.  He took a cup with him to the ER and it had a lot of blood in it by the time we left!  He put gauze in both nostrils with a chemical on them to constrict the blood vessels, then the packed the left one, it was bleeding the most and was also the one that got cauterized.  He has to go back on Monday to get the packing taken out.   Doc put him on antibiotics for 3 days he said with the packing it would be easy to get an infection going.  Told him to put antibiotic ointment in his nose to help healing.  He hasn't been doing so well this afternoon, he keeps sneezing and his nose is running.  At least it's not pouring blood, it's pink tinged liquid, but he's been pretty uncomfortable and the packing in his nostril has fallen out a bit.  Not sure it will stay in until Monday!

Stitch asked to borrow the big magnet to pick up nails in his yard.  He told us that Sherry is going "walkabout" for a while.  She's not happy and doesn't know what she wants.  He says he doesn't want a divorce and has agreed for her to go away for a while to get her head together.  Hope it works out for them.

December 9, 2016

Christmas shopping day.  I usually dread this day, but it wasn't bad.  We went early and WalMart wasn't as packed as we expected.  Found gifts for everyone, I think, I hope.  Carleen is going shopping in Flag with Mom today and she will pick up a gift for me to give Mom.  She said Mom was very specific about what she wanted, it had to be the right size and brand, so easier to let her pick it up!  Mom is very hard to shop for and I have an especially hard time finding something for her.

We ate at Wendy's after shopping and came home.

John has been telling me he got me an anniversary gift ever since our anniversary, and it finally got here today.  He ordered a special made crock with our names and 50th anniversary on it.

December 8, 2016

Slept better last night!

John put the finishing trims down at Casa.  It's looking good!

John came in just as I was finishing up my bath and getting dressed, he had a bad nosebleed.  I googled what to do and we did that, they said to sit leaning forward and hold your nose tight for 10 minutes.  He did that and it was still bleeding.  Tried it several times and an hour later it was still bleeding!  Called Doc Wilson's office and Daryl told me to take him to the ER, he said they don't have anything at the office to stop it.  So I took him to the ER.  It was a much nicer visit than the time they kept him waiting for an hour out in the waiting room when he had a blood clot in his lung!  Took him in pretty fast and put him in a room and a doc and 3 nurses came in to work on him!  Wow!  Pretty impressive.  They got him set down on a bed and told him to lay back, what I read on google was NOT to do that, blood could run down the throat and into the lungs and  it could be bad!  He did try and had to sit right back up, couching and sputtering, blood was running down his throat and drowning him!  They put the head of the bed up for him and he was okay.  Doc examined him and said his nose was pretty torn up.  He said it happens this time of the year, the dry air dries out the tissue and makes it bleed.  His poor nostrils were red and it looked like someone took a cheese grater to them!  The doc had the nurse put some cocaine in each nostril!  He said is constricts the blood vessels and helps stop the bleeding.  I asked if there would be any side effects and he said no, it was just a tiny dose.  I never heard of this use for cocaine!  It did help stop the bleeding and after a bit the doc examined him again and found a bit of seepage and cauterized that.  After another check of his vitals (his blood pressure was pretty high when they first took it)  they said he was okay to go home.  They had a cool clothes pin looking device to put on the nose to help stop the bleeding and sent that home with us.  He started seeping as we got in the car and has had a bit of blood since.  Doc said to keep the nostril covered with Vaseline or Nasogel, so he has been using it since we got home.  He said he has a weird headache and wonders if it is the cocaine doing it?  Don't know he's the first in our family to "use" it. LOLOL!

December 7, 2016

Woke up about 1:30 and knew I was done sleeping, so I got up.  Worries about what to get people for Christmas.  We usually give the kids money and this year John started thinking of gifts to give, so now we need to come up with gifts for everyone.  Too hard for this old brain!  My Mom is so hard to get something for, I stress over that every year.  Love the lights and decorations, but hate the rest of it.  We need to make a trip to WalMart and John hates going there this time of the year, so that adds to my stress level.  Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, no stress, just enjoy the colors and costumes!

Today was Bashas Senior day.  We went shopping this morning, got a Christmas turkey and pies.  I plan to make a simpler meal this year, not so many high carb foods.

Went to St. Johns this afternoon and took the humidifier that John make for Mom and installed it.  Stopped by Connie and Eric's house to leave a birthday gift for Eric.

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

December 6, 2016

It was warmer outside early this am than it was all day yesterday!  I began the morning mending broken Christmas decorations.  I have a lot of wood decorations I made and the hot glue doesn't like the attic I guess, because every year I have to re-glue them.

Cloudy this am, no sunrise to be see, but we did get some nice color early on.

As I was walking to Casa I noticed a huge cloud of BLACK smoke.  Went up on the landing to see if I could tell where it was.  Heard some pops that sounded like ammo blowing up and hoped it wasn't the Drug Store!  Found out it was the hay shed at Cowboy Up.  There was a camper near the shed, wonder if the bangs were a propane tank exploding?

Nate came over and filled in the trench!  Yeah, the water line is in and the electric line.  The guys also grubbed out the elms by the side of the house.  I went through a couple more Christmas boxes.  I'd forgotten about some of the things in them.  My back is killing me from all the bending over boxes and lifting.

John saw Doc Wilson today for the results of the xray he had.  As we expected, nothing much showed up, we didn't expect the injury to show up.  He twisted his knee about a month ago and it's been hurting him ever since.  He says he can move his knee cap with his hand!  Sounds like something tore.

Took a load of trash to the dump, our first time back since they finished the new scale house.  They were putting the roof on it last time we were there.

December 5, 2016

I decided to take a metformin last night to see if it would lower my fasting blood sugar.  The doc wanted me to take it, he said even once a day or every other day would be okay.  I didn't see much difference in my fasting number today, it's in the same range, between 100 and 120.  It was 103.

Tested my blood sugar before lunch it's 93.

Since we have a big room to spread things out in, I decided to bring down all the Christmas stuff from the attic and sort through it.  I had no idea we had so much stuff!!  Years of collecting and people giving us decorating stuff filled the bed of The Putt!!  I have told Mom for several years that I don't want or need any more Christmas stuff, but she still adds to the collection.  What a mess to go through!  The attic has not been kind to stuff, the temperature is too wild, too hot in summer and freezing in winter.

Sunday, December 4, 2016

December 4, 2016

We had a busy day!  I do laundry on Sunday because the rates are low all day, so I spent most of the day washing.  I cleaned the guest bathroom and put up Christmas decorations and also cleaned out the guest bedroom.  They both needed a cleaning!  I also made a batch of bread for John.  I don't eat bread and a lot of other things anymore.  I have been researching diabetes and found I have been eating all the wrong things!  I am doing better now, I have stopped my metformin and am still keeping my numbers low.  Wish I could get them back into the non-diabetic range!
I put a second coat of paint on the quarter round trim boards to go next to the wall in my studio.  It's getting so close to being done!  I have already started moving some stuff in and am drawing up floor plans to figure out where to put stuff.

Saturday, December 3, 2016

December 3 2016

It was  a cold, cold day!  We cut and fitted the trim around the floor and I started painting it.  Brought down a few more Christmas things.  I'm finding that they aren't stored in a very good place!  I was cleaning the Mrs. Santa doll that Trish gave me years ago and the fabric on her cheek started coming off!  I'm so bummed!

I got my order from Jennifer Ashley.  She is selling jewelry on etsy and I ordered a bracelet and earrings.  They're gorgeous!

John called Charles to visit.  He is much better about calling to keep in touch.  I tend to email or message on facebook.  Charles and family are planning to come up for Christmas, they can only stay 3 days and two of those they will be traveling, so not much time, but so glad they are able to come up!

Tonight was the annual Christmas Light Parade.  I miss the dancing firemen!  They used to dance down the street all lit up, it was awesome!  Hendo had his Volkswagen all lighted and it was cool!  It was a short parade, but it was pretty cool.  It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be, we were pretty bundled up and warm!

We finished putting the flooring in today!  Yeah, us!  So glad to have it done, it looks so much better!  We bought trim to cover up the join where the floor that was already finished and what we put down come together.  And trim to go around the baseboards and the fireplace.  I need to touch up some damaged paint on the walls and we need to bring in the cabinets I am going to use and it's done.  I can start moving in!  Went shopping this afternoon to pick up a few things we are out of.  Had a good supper.  We mostly eat different foods now, with me on a strict low carb diet for my diabetes, I don't eat most of the stuff John does.  He had Green chili beans, I had some of the steak he used with a bit of green chili on it and broccoli slaw.  We watched Christmas Vacation, now the holidays can begin!

I somehow didn't get a dec 1 page, so am adding it in January  have to go back and look at photos to figure out what we did!

December 1st, 2016

Well, here we go again, it's December 1, 2016.  I put up some Christmas stuff yesterday, things that are in the house, most of my decorations are in the attic.  This is my traditional day to put the tree up, but we've been so busy next door that I wasn't sure I'd have time today.  I got John to help me bring the boxed tree down from the attic this morning, then we went on with the day.    We went to St. Johns early this morning so John could work on Mom's fireplace.  One of the knobs was lose and she said the humidifier was leaking.  John brought that home to work on it.  He filled it with water when we got home to see where the leak is.  Then we went back to work on the floor.  Mel and Ruth came by to visit a bit and took us out for lunch to celebrate our 50 anniversary.  They celebrated their 50th recently.  Had a good visit with them.  We came home and put more flooring down.  I am so sore this evening, lots of bending and hammering today! I put the tree up this evening.  Only put on a few ornaments, most of them are in the attic.
